Annual billing is marked "-25%" on every paid plan. Large annual orders get 10% off at 100 or more licenses, 15% at 500 and 20% at 1,000. Read's help center lists the same prices: Pro "$19.75/month or $15/month with annual payment," Enterprise "$29.75/month or $22.50/month with annual payment," Enterprise+ "$39.75/month or $29.75/month with annual payment" (What are the different paid plans that Read offers?).

Is Read AI free? What the free plan really includes

Read's Free card says "Always free, no credit card required" and lists 5 meeting transcripts a month, meeting reports and live notes at 5 a month each, a 1-hour maximum meeting length, no audio or video uploads, basic integrations and no video playback. Read's help center explains what the cap means in practice (Why is my report showing as out of quota?):

  • 5 reports a month. Past that, reports are marked "Out of quota" and the Reports page says "Free plan quota exceeded." You can't use Read for the rest of the month unless you upgrade.
  • Shared reports count. "Reports you own, as well as reports that have been shared with you, count against your monthly report limit." A colleague sharing a Read report with you uses one of your 5.
  • The reset date is on your Plan & Billing page.
  • Upgrading unlocks the past 30 days of out-of-quota reports, and only for meetings the Read Assistant joined and recorded.
  • 1 hour per meeting on Free, against 4 hours on Pro.
  • No video, on Free or Pro. Playback starts on Enterprise.

So one weekly team meeting plus one customer call a week already exceeds the free plan.

Do it with Scribbl: the video and the notes, free

Scribbl is an AI note taker for Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and we make it. There's no 5-report cap, no 1-hour cap, and the video comes with every meeting on the free plan.

  1. Add Scribbl. The Chrome extension for Google Meet, or Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows for Zoom and Teams. You don't need to be the host.
  2. Join the meeting as usual. Nothing joins the call, so there's no participant for anyone to notice or remove.
  3. Open the notes when it ends. The video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items are in your Scribbl account.

The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month and no limit on meeting length. Start free.

Read AI Pro: $15 or $19.75 per user per month

Pro costs $15 per user per month billed annually ($180 a year) or $19.75 monthly. Over Free it gives you unlimited meeting reports, transcripts and live notes, meetings up to 4 hours, 100 file upload credits a month, priority report processing, custom assistant branding, workspace access and premium integrations. What Pro doesn't change: there's still no audio or video playback.

Read AI Enterprise: $22.50 or $29.75, 5 licenses minimum

Enterprise is tagged "REQUIRES 5+ LICENSES." It costs $22.50 per user per month billed annually or $29.75 monthly, so the smallest Enterprise order is $1,350 a year. It adds audio and video playback, video highlights, 200 upload credits a month and dedicated support. If you want to watch your meetings back in Read, this is the first plan that allows it.

Read AI Enterprise+

Enterprise+ is $29.75 per user per month billed annually or $39.75 monthly, "For larger teams and organizations." It adds 8-hour meetings, 300 upload credits, HIPAA compliance, SAML SSO and SCIM, domain capture, a custom data retention policy and workspace onboarding.

What Read AI costs for 1, 5 and 10 people

Read's pricing is per user, "All our licenses are individual," and every license in a workspace must be on the same plan.

WhoPlan and billingPer monthPer year
1 personPro, annual$15$180
1 personPro, monthly$19.75$237
1 personEnterpriseNot possible: 5 licenses minimum
5 peoplePro, annual$75$900
5 peopleEnterprise, annual$112.50$1,350
5 peopleEnterprise, monthly$148.75$1,785
10 peoplePro, annual$150$1,800
10 peopleEnterprise, annual$225$2,700
10 peopleEnterprise+, annual$297.50$3,570

For comparison, Scribbl Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly (Scribbl pricing): $156 a year for one person, $780 for 5 and $1,560 for 10, and the video is on every plan, including free. Against Read Enterprise, the first Read plan with video, Scribbl Pro is $1,140 a year less for 10 people.

How Read AI billing, cancelling and refunds work

From Read's pricing FAQ and help center, as of October 19, 2026:

  • Payment. Credit card, billed monthly or annually. Read doesn't take PayPal.
  • Licenses. A license is tied to the seat, not the name, so you can reassign it when someone leaves. Free users can't join a Workspace.
  • Cancelling. On the Plan & Billing page, click Cancel plan, then Downgrade to Free. Workspace members need the workspace owner to do it. You keep paid features through the end of the billing period (How do I cancel my billing plan?).
  • Refunds. "Read does not provide refunds unless there was some issue with the service that prevented you from using it as advertised," and no prorated refunds for cancelling mid-period (Can I get a refund?). The same article says every user gets a free Enterprise trial; the length isn't stated.
  • Discounts. 10% to 20% off annual orders of 100 or more licenses. Read's help center also lists EDU pricing and a nonprofit article.

How Read AI joins your meetings

Read's pricing page says to "Add Read Assistant to any Zoom, Teams, or Meet meeting to automatically take meeting notes." It joins as a participant. Read's own desktop app article puts it plainly: "Bots are immediately visible to call participants, and can be easily removed by others" (How to Use Read's Desktop App for Windows and Mac).

That desktop app, for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 14 or later, can record audio from your computer instead of sending the bot. But Read says "Desktop recordings only capture audio, while the bot can capture video," and those reports "don't currently include video, coaching, or deep dive metrics." So with Read you choose: a bot in the call, or no video and fewer metrics. Scribbl gives you the video with nothing joining.

Whichever way you record, tell everyone first. Read's app reminds you to get consent before each recording. Some places require everyone's consent; see do you have to tell people you're recording.

Read AI vs Scribbl: the better pick

Scribbl is the better pick for most people pricing Read AI. Nothing joins the call: a Chrome extension for Google Meet, and Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows for Zoom and Teams. Every meeting comes back with the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, on the free plan, with no monthly report cap and no 1-hour cap.

Scribbl keeps working after the call. Smart Collections sort meetings by themselves. Automations do the follow-up: draft the email, log notes in HubSpot or Pipedrive, post to Slack or Teams, save to Notion, Google Drive or Confluence, or open Linear, Jira, Asana or Monday tickets, and they ask before changing anything by default. On Pro, connect Scribbl to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about every meeting. Recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you. FAQ

Is Read AI free?

Yes, with a cap. Read AI's Free plan costs $0 with no credit card, and it gives you 5 meeting reports a month, each for a meeting of up to 1 hour. Reports shared with you count toward the 5. Past the cap, new reports show as out of quota until your reset date or until you upgrade. The free plan has no file uploads and no video playback.

How much does Read AI cost?

Read AI has four plans. Free is $0. Pro is $15 per user per month billed annually, or $19.75 billed monthly. Enterprise is $22.50 per user per month billed annually, or $29.75 monthly, and needs 5 or more licenses. Enterprise+ is $29.75 billed annually, or $39.75 monthly. Prices are in US dollars, as of October 19, 2026.

Does the Read AI free plan include video?

No. Audio and video playback is an Enterprise feature at $22.50 per user per month billed annually. The Free and Pro plans give you the transcript, summary and metrics, not the recording.

What happens when Read AI says out of quota?

It means you've used your 5 free reports for the month. Read's help center says reports you own and reports shared with you both count, that the quota resets on the date shown on your Plan and Billing page, and that upgrading to a paid plan unlocks out-of-quota reports from the past 30 days.

Does Read AI join meetings as a bot?

Yes. The Read Assistant joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet calls as a participant that everyone can see, and Read's help center says it can be removed by others. Read's desktop app for Windows and Mac can record audio from your computer instead, but those recordings have no video and no coaching metrics.

Can you get a refund from Read AI?

No. Read's help center says it does not provide refunds unless a service issue prevented you from using it as advertised, and gives no prorated refunds when you cancel mid-period. You keep the paid features until the end of the billing period. Cancel from the Plan and Billing page before your renewal date.

Is Scribbl free?

Yes. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month and no limit on meeting length. Every meeting gets the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, and nothing joins the call. Start free at extension.app.scribbl.co/signup.
