Read AI vs Fireflies: pick Fireflies if you want the cheaper paid plan and every integration on the free plan, and pick Read AI if you want unlimited meetings on its paid plan and no bot on Google Meet. Fireflies Pro is $10 per seat per month billed annually against $15 for Read AI Pro, but Read AI keeps video playback for its Enterprise plans, and both send a bot into Zoom and Teams calls.
Scribbl is the pick over both. Nothing joins the call on Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and every meeting gets the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, on every plan. Every price and limit below was checked on Read AI's and Fireflies' official pages on October 19, 2026, and the sources are at the end.
Start free: no bot on any of the three, the video on the free plan, and the free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month.

The bot in the call
Read AI. Read AI's help center says that when it joins a meeting, it either joins as a participant, which the host can remove, or shows a Read logo in the corner of the meeting window, and it posts in the chat who invited it. On Google Meet, its native integration records through Google's API with no bot, after someone on the call confirms that everyone has consented and starts Read. Its desktop app for Windows and Mac can also record your computer's audio without a bot, but those recordings have no video, coaching or deep-dive metrics.
Fireflies. Fireflies.ai Notetaker (fred@fireflies.ai) joins through auto-join, a calendar invite or the "Add to live meeting" button, and a host must admit it if there's a waiting room or lobby. Its Chrome extension records Google Meet with no bot, but Fireflies captures video only on Zoom, Teams or Google Meet calls where the bot joins.
Scribbl. Nothing joins the call on any of the three. On Google Meet it's a Chrome extension, and on Zoom and Teams it's Scribbl Desktop for Mac with Apple silicon and Windows, and you get the video either way. Whatever tool you use, tell everyone you're recording at the start of the call.
Do it with Scribbl
No bot on Google Meet, Zoom or Teams, and the video on every plan, including free. Three steps:
- 1
Add Scribbl
Add the Chrome extension for Google Meet, or install Scribbl Desktop on your Mac (Apple silicon) or Windows computer for Zoom and Teams. Change Read AI's join settings or turn off auto-join in Fireflies, so no note taker shows up in your next call.
- 2
Join the meeting as usual
Nothing joins the call, and you don't need to be the host. Tell everyone you're recording at the start.
- 3
Open the notes when the meeting ends
The video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items are on one page.
Every meeting gets the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, on the free plan too. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Start free.
Integrations: Read AI vs Fireflies
Read AI. The free plan has basic integrations. Pro and up add premium integrations, including Notion, HubSpot, Jira, Confluence, Zapier and webhooks. Zoom, Teams and Google Meet are supported on every plan.
Fireflies. Fireflies says it connects to more than 50 apps and that all integrations are available on every plan, including Free. API access comes with rate limits that rise with each plan.
Scribbl. Scribbl's integrations do the follow-up for you. Smart Collections sort your meetings by themselves into the groups you describe. When a meeting lands in a collection, Automations draft the follow-up email (you copy it or open it in Gmail; it never sends by itself), log a note in HubSpot or Pipedrive, post to Slack or Microsoft Teams, save to Google Drive, Notion or Confluence, open an Asana, Monday, Linear or Jira ticket, or add a row to a Google Sheet. They ask before they change anything by default. On Pro you can also connect Scribbl to ChatGPT or Claude and ask about past meetings.
Privacy: AI training and your data
- Read AI. Read AI's help center says the default is opted out of contributing data to its models, and users can choose to opt in. It says meeting reports are protected behind its account login by default, and data is stored in AWS us-east-1 in Northern Virginia.
- Fireflies. Fireflies' pricing page says your data is never used for AI training or any purpose outside your direct business needs.
- Scribbl. Recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.
Read AI or Fireflies: which should you choose?
Between the two: Read AI's free plan stops at 5 meetings, and its playback needs Enterprise; its Google Meet integration is the one place it records with no bot. Fireflies' free plan is unlimited only if its bot joins your calendar meetings, and it captures video only when the bot joins.
Scribbl is the pick for most people comparing these two:
- Nothing joins the call on Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, not just on one of them.
- The video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items for every meeting, on every plan, free included.
- A simple free plan. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly, with unlimited meetings.
- The follow-up gets done. Smart Collections sort your meetings, and Automations draft the email, log the CRM note and open the ticket.
