How to Cancel Otter AI Subscription on Web, iPhone and Android (2026)
How to cancel an Otter.ai subscription on the web, iPhone and Android, from Otter's help center, plus what happens to your recordings and minutes after.
Updated October 23, 2026
To cancel an Otter AI subscription you bought on Otter's website, sign in on the web as the workspace owner or an admin, go to Account Settings › Billing, click Cancel plan, pick a reason, click Continue, then Cancel subscription. If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app, cancel in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions instead, and if you're leaving because of the bot in your calls, Scribbl takes notes in Google Meet, Zoom and Teams with nothing joining the call, on a free plan: Start free.
Your paid features keep working until the end of the billing period, and your conversations stay in your account. Every step below comes from Otter's own help center, checked on October 23, 2026, with Apple's and Google's pages for the app store steps. For what each plan costs, see Otter AI pricing.
Before you cancel Otter
- Check your renewal date. It's under Account Settings › Plan. Otter says to cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date to avoid another charge.
- Export what you want to keep, in the format you want. Open a conversation, click the three dots, then Export. Paid plans can export TXT, DOCX, PDF, SRT and the audio as MP3; on the free Basic plan, text exports are TXT only. Bulk export is for Business and higher plans.
- Turn off auto-join. Otter Notetaker works on every plan, including Basic, so cancelling alone doesn't stop it joining your meetings. Go to Integrations › Meetings › Default auto-join settings and choose Meetings I manually select, then check any events you switched on one by one. Or disconnect your calendar.
- Know who can cancel. Only the workspace owner or an admin can cancel. If you're a member on a company plan, ask your admin.

How to cancel Otter on the web
This works for Pro and Business subscriptions bought on otter.ai. Otter says subscriptions bought on its website must be managed in a web browser.
- 1
Sign in to otter.ai as an admin
Use the workspace owner's or an admin's account, in a web browser.
- 2
Open Account Settings, then Billing
Otter's help pages also call this page Integrations (Account Settings). Click Cancel plan at the bottom.
- 3
Choose a reason
Pick your main reason from the list, add more detail if you want, and click Continue.
- 4
Confirm
Read the pop-up, which varies by plan and workspace, and click Cancel subscription.
The subscription now expires at the end of the billing period, and everyone in the workspace keeps the paid features until then. Otter offers Pause Plan on the way out; you can only pause once. Changed your mind? Click Reactivate plan under Account Settings › Billing before the period ends.
How to cancel Otter on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed in the Otter app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple bills you, and Otter says it can't cancel it for you. Cancel in your Apple subscriptions:
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap the Otter.ai subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, then Confirm. You may need to scroll down to find it. If there's no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, it's already cancelled.
You can also start in the Otter app: tap Account › Account Settings, scroll down, tap Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription and Continue, and Otter sends you to your Apple subscription to finish. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Subscriptions, the subscription, and Cancel Subscription.

How to cancel Otter on Android
If you subscribed in the Otter app on Android, Google Play bills you. Cancel there:
- On your Android phone, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select the Otter.ai subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions.
Google says you keep the subscription for the time you've already paid for, and that uninstalling the app doesn't cancel the subscription. Otter's app route (Account › Account Settings › Manage subscription) also hands you to Google Play to finish.

What happens after you cancel Otter
| What Otter says happens | |
|---|---|
| Paid features | Keep working until the end of the billing period |
| After that | The workspace moves to the free Basic plan |
| Your conversations | Stay in your account; only deleted if you delete them or the account |
| Which ones you can open | Your 25 most recent; older ones are archived |
| Archived conversations | Not deleted over time; you can still export them, as TXT on Basic |
| Conversations you shared | People lose access once a conversation is archived |
| Minutes on Basic | 300 a month per user, 30 minutes per conversation, 3 file imports for the life of the account |
| Otter Notetaker | Still available on Basic, so it can keep joining your meetings |
| Refunds | None, including for the unused part of the period |
| Changing your mind | Reactivate before it expires, or buy again later |

Getting an archived conversation back. Otter gives two ways: upgrade again, or export and delete some of your 25 most recent conversations, so the next most recent archived ones become available.
Refunds. Otter says subscriptions are non-refundable under its Terms of Service, including when you forgot to cancel. For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, those stores' refund policies apply.
Cancelling is not deleting your account
Cancelling only stops the paid plan. To remove your data from Otter, delete the account:
- Export the conversations you want to keep, turn off auto-join and disconnect your calendar.
- Go to Account Settings › General, scroll to the bottom and click Delete account.
- Enter your password (or verify through Google, Microsoft or Apple sign-in) and click Verify and continue.
- Read the pop-up and click Delete account.
The option only appears if you're the only user in your workspace; otherwise the workspace owner deletes you. Otter says deletion is permanent and can't be undone: all your conversations are deleted, ones you shared stop working, and any paid time left is forfeited. It keeps limited account information, such as your email, for accounting. (Delete your Otter account, checked October 23, 2026.)
Move your meetings to Scribbl
If you're cancelling because of the bot in the participant list, the 30-minute cut-off on the free plan, or paying to keep your own meetings, Scribbl is the place to move to. It's an AI note taker for Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with nothing joining the call: a Chrome extension for Google Meet, and Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows for Zoom and Teams.
- 1
Add Scribbl
Add the Chrome extension for Google Meet, or install Scribbl Desktop for Zoom and Teams. Turn off Otter's auto-join so only one tool takes notes.
- 2
Join your meetings as usual
Nothing joins the call, and you don't need to be the host. Tell everyone at the start that you're recording.
- 3
Open the notes when it ends
The video recording, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items are on one page.
| Feature | Scribbl free plan | Otter Basic (after you cancel) |
|---|---|---|
| Anything joins the call | No, on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams | Otter Notetaker joins as a participant |
| Video recording of the meeting | Yes | Video replay is listed under Enterprise |
| Transcript | Whole meeting, with speaker names | First 30 minutes of each conversation |
| Meetings you can open | Every meeting in your account | Your 25 most recent conversations |
What else comes with Scribbl:
- Meetings sorted by themselves. Smart Collections put each new meeting into the groups you describe, such as every client call.
- The follow-up done. Automations draft the follow-up email (copy it or open it in Gmail; it never sends by itself), post to Slack or Microsoft Teams, log a note in HubSpot or Pipedrive, or save to Notion, Google Drive or Confluence. They ask before they change anything by default.
- Ask about past meetings. On Pro, connect Scribbl to ChatGPT or Claude and ask what was decided in any meeting.
- Private by default. Recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.
The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly (pricing). Start free, or get Scribbl Desktop for Zoom and Teams. To compare more options first, see Otter alternatives.
FAQ
How do I cancel my Otter.ai subscription?
If you bought it on Otter's website, sign in to Otter.ai on the web as the workspace owner or an admin, go to Account Settings, then Billing, click Cancel plan, choose a reason, click Continue and then Cancel subscription. If you bought it in the iPhone or Android app, cancel it in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions instead. Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date.
Does deleting the Otter app cancel my subscription?
No. Otter's help center says uninstalling the mobile app doesn't cancel your subscription, and Google Play says the same for any app. Cancel the subscription first, on Otter's website or in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions, then delete the app if you want to.
Can I get a refund from Otter?
Otter says it doesn't offer refunds for purchased subscriptions, under its Terms of Service, including when you forgot to cancel. Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play follow those stores' refund policies, so ask Apple or Google.
What happens to my recordings if I cancel Otter?
They stay in your account. When the paid period ends, your workspace moves to the free Basic plan, where you can open your 25 most recent conversations. Older ones are archived, not deleted, and you can still export them, but on Basic only as TXT files. Anyone you shared an archived conversation with loses access to it.
Will Otter still join my meetings after I cancel?
It can. Otter Notetaker works on every Otter plan, including the free Basic plan, so cancelling doesn't stop it from joining meetings on your calendar. To stop it, set auto-join to Meetings I manually select under Integrations, Meetings, or disconnect your calendar.
How do I delete my Otter account?
Go to Account Settings, then General, scroll to the bottom and click Delete account, verify your password and confirm. The option only appears if you're the only user in your workspace. Deleting is permanent: every conversation is deleted, conversations you shared stop working, and any paid time left is forfeited, so export what you need first.
What can I use instead of Otter that doesn't join the call?
Scribbl. It takes notes in Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with nothing joining the call, and every meeting comes back with the video recording, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Start free at extension.app.scribbl.co/signup.
