AI Note Takers That Write Follow-Up Emails After Meetings (2026 Comparison)
Which AI note taker writes follow-up emails after a meeting in 2026: Scribbl, Fathom, Otter, Fireflies, tl;dv, Granola and Read AI, with official plan prices.
Updated October 19, 2026
Which AI note taker writes follow-up emails after a meeting? In this 2026 comparison of Scribbl, Fathom, Otter, Fireflies, tl;dv, Granola and Read AI, all seven can write one, and Scribbl, which makes this page, is the one that drafts the follow-up email after each meeting on its own, in your format, with nothing joining the call, on every plan including free. Almost none of them send it on their own: you read the draft, fix anything wrong and send it yourself, and by default Scribbl asks before it changes anything.
The others split three ways. Granola drafts on its own after external meetings, on its paid plan, through Gmail. Fathom and tl;dv put follow-up emails on their paid plans. Fireflies, Otter and Read AI write one when you ask, and Otter's one-click button is Enterprise only.
We make Scribbl, an AI note taker for Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and we put it first in every table below. Every price and plan was checked on each company's official pricing page on October 19, 2026; the other facts come from each help center, checked on October 12, 2026, and are linked in Sources. We compared what each company says its product does; we didn't test the other six.
Which AI note taker writes follow-up emails after a meeting?
Scribbl, Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv, Granola and Read AI can all write a follow-up email after a meeting, and they differ on the plan you need and whether the draft appears on its own. Scribbl, which makes this page, drafts it after every meeting with an Automation on every plan, 3 runs a month free and 50 on Pro ($13 per user per month billed annually), with nothing joining the call. Fathom has AI follow-up emails from Premium ($16 billed annually), tl;dv has an email follow-up drafter on Pro ($18), and Granola has follow-up emails on Business ($14). Fireflies, Otter and Read AI write one when you ask their AI.
What matters is how the draft gets made, whether anything goes out without you, whether a bot sits in your client's call, and what plan you need.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Recording to check the email against | The video of every meeting, every plan | Video, from its bot | Video on paid plans, from its bot | Audio; video on Enterprise | Video, from its bot | No | Not covered here |
Two rows decide most choices. First, does the draft show up without you asking? Only Scribbl and Granola say so plainly, and Granola only on its paid plan and only through Gmail. Second, does anything join your client's call? Scribbl and Granola never send a bot, and of the two, only Scribbl keeps a recording you can check before you send.
What is the best AI note taker for follow-up emails?
For meetings on Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, Scribbl. It drafts the follow-up email after each meeting with no prompt from you, in the format you set, and it waits for you to send. Nothing joins the call, and you keep the video, the transcript with speaker names, the AI notes and the action items the email is built from. It runs on the free plan, 3 times a month, so you can try it on real meetings first.
If you're comparing the others, four questions decide it:
- Do you want the draft waiting for you, or are you happy to ask for it? Scribbl and Granola draft on their own. With Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv and Read AI, you ask or click each time, unless you set up a Fireflies AI Skill on Pro.
- Can a bot join your client's call? Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv and Read AI join with a bot by default. Some clients and some companies' guest settings won't allow it. Scribbl and Granola never send one.
- Do you want to check the email against the meeting before you send? AI can get a name, a number or a date wrong. Scribbl keeps the video of every meeting. Granola keeps no recording at all.
- What plan does it take? Scribbl drafts follow-ups on every plan, including free. Fathom starts at Premium ($16), tl;dv at Pro ($18), Granola at Business ($14), and Otter's one-click button needs Enterprise.
If your answers are "waiting for me," "no bot" and "I want the recording," the answer is Scribbl: it's the only one of the seven that does all three.
Can an AI note taker send a follow-up email after a meeting?
It can write the email within a minute or two of the meeting ending. Sending it is a different matter: by default, every one of the seven leaves the sending to you, and that's deliberate. An email to a client goes out under your name, and a draft can misread who agreed to what.
Here's what each one does with the draft:
- Scribbl drafts it in your format and never sends it by itself. You read it and send it. Other changes, like logging notes in HubSpot or posting to Slack, wait for your yes by default.
- Granola sends from its own editor when you click Send, with about 10 seconds to undo, through your connected Gmail.
- Otter writes it in Otter Chat. You click the copy icon and paste it into your email.
- tl;dv drafts one when you prompt it after the call, for you to send to the other participants.
- Fireflies writes one when you ask AskFred. Its Email Assistant, a separate inbox feature on Pro, says drafts are never sent automatically.
- Read AI writes a first version from your meeting notes; you edit and send.
- Fathom lists AI follow-up emails on its paid plans but doesn't say on its pricing or help pages whether it ever sends one for you.
If you truly want an email to go out with nobody reading it, that usually means connecting your note taker to a tool like Zapier and building it yourself.
Scribbl: drafts the follow-up after each meeting, and asks first
Scribbl is an AI note taker for Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Nothing joins the call: Google Meet runs from a Chrome extension, and Zoom and Teams run from Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows. After each meeting you get the video recording, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items. Then Automations do the follow-up.
How it works:
- Smart Collections sort your meetings by themselves. Describe a collection in a sentence, like "calls with prospects about buying from us," and your sales calls land there on their own.
- Add an Automation to the collection: "Draft the follow-up email." After every meeting that lands in it, Scribbl writes the follow-up email in your format, from what was actually said, with the action items and next steps.
- The email waits for you. Scribbl never sends it by itself. You read it, change what you want and send it.
- The rest of the follow-up, in the same place. The same collection can log the notes in HubSpot or Pipedrive, post a summary to Slack or Microsoft Teams, save notes to Notion, Google Drive or Confluence, open a ticket in Linear, Jira, Asana or Monday, or add a row to a Google Sheet. By default, it asks before it changes anything.
Why it beats the others for follow-ups:
- The draft is there without asking. No prompt to type after every call, unlike Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv and Read AI.
- No bot in your client's call. Unlike Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv and Read AI by default.
- You can check before you send. The video of every meeting sits next to the transcript, so a doubtful number or name takes seconds to confirm. Granola keeps no recording.
- It's on every plan. 3 Automations runs a month on the free plan, 50 on Pro and no limit on Team. A run is one automation doing one thing for one meeting, like drafting one follow-up email (pricing).
- Google Meet, Zoom and Teams in one account, and you're not tied to Gmail: copy the draft into whatever email you use.
- Ask Claude or ChatGPT. On Pro, connect Scribbl once and you can ask Claude or ChatGPT about every meeting, for example to draft a follow-up that pulls in what a client said across three calls (how it works).
Price. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly. Recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.

How each one handles follow-up emails
Fathom
Fathom's help center lists "AI Follow-Up Emails" among the Premium AI features, and the feature table on its pricing page includes them on Premium, Team, Business and Enterprise but not on Free. Premium is $16 a month billed annually; Team is $15 per user with a 2-user minimum. Fathom's pages don't explain whether the draft appears on its own or whether Fathom can send it. Fathom records with a bot that joins the call; on a Mac you can choose a no-bot mode, which its pricing page calls a beta. Full plan details: Fathom pricing.
Fireflies
You ask AskFred, Fireflies' AI assistant, to "write a follow-up email" after a meeting. To skip asking each time, Fireflies lets you save that prompt as an AskFred App, a kind of AI Skill that runs after each meeting. AI Skills are listed from Pro, $10 per seat a month billed annually or $18 monthly, and AI features draw on credits (20 on Free and Pro). Fireflies' Email Assistant, also on Pro, is an inbox tool for Gmail and Outlook: it drafts replies and nudges for emails that got no answer, and "drafts are never sent automatically." The Fireflies Notetaker joins as a bot by default. Full plan details: Fireflies pricing.
Otter
Otter's help center says its one-click follow-up email, a Write follow-up email button under Sales Insights, is "only available for the Enterprise plan." It opens Otter Chat, writes the email, and you copy it into your email app. On other plans you can ask Otter AI Chat for a follow-up email within its monthly limit: 20 questions per user on Basic (3 per conversation), 50 on Pro and 200 on Business. Otter Notetaker joins your calls as a bot by default. Full plan details: Otter.ai pricing.
tl;dv
tl;dv's pricing page lists an "Email follow-up drafter" on Pro, $18 per seat a month billed annually. Its help center says that after each call "you can prompt tl;dv's AI to draft you a follow-up email" to send to the other participants. tl;dv joins with a bot by default; its desktop app can record without one.
Granola
On Business ($14 per user per month) and Enterprise, Granola drafts a follow-up email after a meeting with at least one external guest and no more than 10 people, using the transcript, your calendar and past Gmail threads. It stays quiet when it decides an email isn't needed, for example when a colleague owns the follow-up. You edit it in Granola and click Send. It needs a Google sign-in with Gmail connected; Outlook isn't supported yet. Granola never sends a bot, but it "does not record or save audio or video," so you can't replay the meeting to check the draft. Follow-up emails aren't on the free Basic plan. Full plan details: Granola pricing.
Read AI
Read AI says its AI "generates the first version from your meeting notes" and you edit and send. Its pricing page doesn't list follow-up emails by plan; its free plan includes 5 meeting transcripts a month. Read AI's help center says it sends a bot that joins your meeting as a participant, and you or the host may need to admit it. More options: Read AI alternatives.

What a good AI follow-up email includes
Whatever tool writes it, check the draft for five things before you send:
- A one-line thank-you that names the meeting, so it doesn't read like a template.
- What was decided, in the words people used.
- Action items with an owner and a date, for both sides.
- The next step, such as the next meeting or what you're sending and when.
- Anything you promised to send, attached or linked.
Then check every number, name and date against the meeting. That last step is why the recording matters. For wording, see our sales follow-up email templates and after-meeting emails to clients. And tell everyone at the start of the call that you're recording; some places require everyone's consent (do you have to tell people you're recording).
How we checked
We read each company's pricing page and help center on October 12, 2026, and checked every price and plan again on the official pricing pages on October 19, 2026. Every fact about the six other note takers comes from those pages. Scribbl's facts come from our own pricing page. We compared what each company says its product does; we didn't create accounts on the other six.
Several pages that rank for these questions carry wrong facts: one lists Fathom as Zoom only (Fathom records Zoom, Google Meet and Teams) and gives Fathom Premium as about $15 (it's $16 billed annually). Most also skip that Otter's one-click follow-up email is Enterprise only, and that Granola's automatic drafts need its paid plan and Gmail.
What we couldn't confirm on the companies' own pages: whether Fathom drafts the email on its own or can send it, and which Read AI plans include follow-up drafts.
FAQ
Which AI note taker writes follow-up emails?
Scribbl, Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv, Granola and Read AI can all write a follow-up email from a meeting. They differ in three ways: whether the draft appears on its own or only when you ask, whether a bot joins the call, and which plan you need. Scribbl, which makes this page, drafts the follow-up email after each meeting with an Automation, with nothing joining the call, on every plan: 3 runs a month on the free plan, 50 on Pro and no limit on Team.
What is the best AI note taker for follow-up emails?
Scribbl, which makes this page, for meetings on Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Its Automations draft the follow-up email after each meeting in your format and wait for you to send it, and the same Automation can log the notes in HubSpot or Pipedrive or post a summary to Slack, asking before it changes anything by default. Nothing joins the call, and every meeting keeps the video, so you can check a line before you send. Among the others, Fathom's AI follow-up emails start at Premium ($16 a month billed annually), Granola's automatic drafts need its Business plan and Gmail, and Otter's one-click follow-up email is Enterprise only.
Can an AI note taker send a follow-up email after a meeting?
It can write one, but almost none send it on their own, and that's on purpose: you read the draft and send it yourself. Scribbl, which makes this page, drafts the email and never sends it by itself. Granola sends from its own editor only after you click Send, with about 10 seconds to undo. Otter and tl;dv give you text to copy into your email. Fireflies says its Email Assistant never sends a draft automatically. Sending with no review usually takes a separate tool such as Zapier.

Yes, on paid plans. Fathom's help center lists AI Follow-Up Emails as a Premium feature, and its pricing table includes them on Premium, Team, Business and Enterprise, not on Free. Premium is $16 a month billed annually. Fathom's bot joins the call to record unless you use its bot-free mode, which is a beta for Mac.
Does Otter write follow-up emails?
Otter's one-click Write follow-up email button, part of Otter for Sales, is available only on the Enterprise plan, according to Otter's help center. You copy the email and paste it into your email app. On other plans you can ask Otter AI Chat to write one, within its monthly limit: 20 questions per user on Basic, 50 on Pro and 200 on Business.
Does Granola send follow-up emails?
On a paid plan, yes. After a meeting with at least one external guest and no more than 10 people, Granola can draft a follow-up email from your transcript, calendar and past Gmail threads, and you send it from Granola with one click. It needs Gmail; Outlook isn't supported yet. Granola keeps no audio or video recording, so there's nothing to replay before you send. Follow-up emails aren't on Granola's free Basic plan; Business is $14 per user per month.
Is there a free AI note taker that drafts follow-up emails?
Yes. Scribbl, which makes this page, drafts the follow-up email with an Automation on the free plan, 3 runs a month, with nothing joining the call. Scribbl, which makes this page, and Granola. Scribbl records Google Meet from a Chrome extension and Zoom and Teams from Scribbl Desktop for Mac and Windows, with nothing joining the call, and keeps the video of every meeting. Granola never sends a bot either, but keeps no recording, and its follow-up drafts need a paid plan and Gmail. Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, tl;dv and Read AI send a bot by default; some can record without one from a desktop app.
