Claude Meeting Notes: What Claude Can and Can't Do, and How to Search Your Meetings in Claude
Can Claude take meeting notes? Not on its own: it can't join or record a call. What it does with a transcript, and how to search all your meetings in Claude.
Updated October 7, 2026
Claude can't take meeting notes on its own. It can't join a call, listen to one or transcribe a recording: Anthropic's help center describes no meeting recorder, and the file types Claude accepts are documents and images, with no audio or video. What Claude is good at is the step after the meeting. Give it a transcript or notes, and it writes minutes, pulls out action items or drafts the follow-up email.
So the useful setup is two tools: a note taker that records the meeting, and Claude to work with what was said. Scribbl records Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with no bot in the call. You can paste a meeting's transcript into Claude on any plan, or, on Scribbl Pro, connect Scribbl to Claude once and let Claude search every meeting you've recorded.
Every Claude detail below comes from Anthropic's help center, checked on October 6, 2026. The links are next to each fact and at the end.
Can Claude take meeting notes?
Not by itself. Claude has no way to join or record a meeting, and it can't transcribe an audio or video file. It can turn a transcript or notes you give it into meeting notes, minutes and follow-ups, and with a connector it can search the transcripts of every meeting a note taker such as Scribbl recorded for you.
Here is what Claude can and can't do with meetings, from Anthropic's help center:
- No meeting recorder. Nothing in Anthropic's help center describes Claude joining, recording or transcribing a call in Google Meet, Zoom or Teams.
- No audio or video uploads. Anthropic lists the files Claude accepts as documents (PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, HTML, ODT, RTF, EPUB, JSON and XLSX) and images (JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP), up to 20 files per chat (Upload files to Claude). A recording has to become a transcript first.
- Transcripts and notes, yes. Paste a transcript or upload it as a document, and Claude can summarize it, list decisions and action items, or write an email from it.
- Connectors reach other tools. Custom connectors let Claude read from tools you connect (Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP). Anthropic's own Microsoft 365 connector, for example, can review meeting summaries, attendee information and content from your Outlook calendar once an admin has set it up (Connect to Microsoft 365). It doesn't record meetings either.
| Claude with Scribbl's connector (our pick) | Claude with a pasted or uploaded transcript | Claude on its own | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Records the meeting | Scribbl records it, with no bot in the call | No. Another tool records it | No |
| Meetings Claude can see | Every meeting you've recorded or that was shared with you, or one Smart Collection | The ones you paste or upload into that chat | None |
| Claude plan needed | One that can add custom connectors (Anthropic lists which) | Any | Any |
| Scribbl plan needed | Pro: $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly | The free plan works. It includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month | None |
| The video | Kept in Scribbl, next to the notes and transcript | Only if your recorder keeps it | No |
How to use Claude for meeting notes from a transcript
If you already have a transcript, from Scribbl, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or any other recorder, Claude can turn it into notes on any plan.
- Get the transcript as text or a document. In Scribbl, the meeting page has a Copy transcript button (it's in the screenshot at the top of this page). Zoom, Teams and Google Meet make transcripts only on some paid plans and in some settings.
- Paste it into a new Claude chat, or attach the file with the + button in the chat box. PDF, DOCX and TXT all work.
- Add one line of context: what the meeting was, who was there and what each person does. Claude can't know that Dana is the client or that "the rollout" means your CRM project.
- Ask for an exact format. "Summarize this" gets you a paragraph. A list of headings gets you something close to finished. The prompts below are a starting point.
- Check names, numbers and decisions before you share the result. Like any AI, Claude can attach a comment to the wrong person or list a task that was dropped.
For a very long meeting, ask for notes on each agenda item first, then one combined summary.
How to search your meeting transcripts in Claude
Pasting works for one meeting at a time. To ask about many meetings at once ("what did this customer say about pricing across our last three calls?"), Claude needs to reach your meetings directly. That's what Scribbl's connector does.
What it does. After you connect Scribbl once, Claude can search the transcripts and notes of the meetings you've recorded and the meetings someone shared with you, read a single meeting's transcript, or search only the meetings in one Smart Collection. Smart Collections are groups you describe in one sentence, such as "calls with customers about renewals", and Scribbl puts each new meeting that fits into the right one.
What you need:
- Scribbl Pro, $13 per user per month billed annually or $20 monthly (pricing). Scribbl records Google Meet through a Chrome extension, and Zoom and Microsoft Teams through Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows. No bot joins any of them.
- A Claude account that can add custom connectors. Anthropic's custom connectors page lists which Claude plans can add them and how many. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization first.
How to connect it (the Claude steps follow Anthropic's help page for individual plans):
- Copy your connection link from your Scribbl settings. It's tied to your Scribbl account.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it (for example, "Scribbl"), paste the link as the remote MCP server URL, and click Continue.
- Finish adding it. Review the sign-in settings Claude detected, click Continue, then Add. Sign in with Google when Scribbl asks.
- Turn it on in a chat. Click + in the chat box, then Connectors, and switch Scribbl on for that conversation.
- Ask about your meetings. For example:
- "What did Acme say about pricing in our last three calls?"
- "Draft the follow-up from yesterday's renewal call."
- "What objections came up most across this month's sales calls?"
- "Catch me up on this account before my call at 2."
On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds Scribbl under Organization settings, then Connectors, and each person then finds it under Customize, then Connectors, and clicks Connect to sign in with their own Scribbl account (Anthropic's steps). More about the connector, including ChatGPT, is on the Scribbl connector page.
On the free plan. Scribbl's free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month, and each meeting gets AI notes, action items, a transcript with speaker names and the video. You can copy any of those transcripts into Claude, on any Claude plan. The connector is the Pro step that removes the copying and lets Claude look across all your meetings.
Claude prompts for meeting minutes, action items and follow-ups
Paste a prompt under your transcript or notes and fill in the brackets. The last two are for Claude with Scribbl's connector turned on.
1. Minutes, action items and a follow-up email at once
Here is the transcript of my meeting. Turn it into meeting minutes with the decisions, a table of action items with owners and due dates, and a short follow-up email to the team. If the transcript doesn't name an owner or a date, write "not set" instead of guessing.
2. Formal minutes for the record
Turn this transcript into formal meeting minutes with these headings: Meeting title, Date and time, Attendees, Agenda items, Discussion (one short paragraph per agenda item), Decisions, Action items (with owner and due date), Next meeting. Keep it neutral and factual and leave out small talk. Where the transcript doesn't say something, write "not recorded".
3. A follow-up email to everyone who attended
Write a follow-up email to everyone who attended this meeting. Open with a two-sentence recap, then list each action item with its owner and due date, then the date of the next meeting if one was set. Keep it under 150 words, friendly and plain. My name is [your name] and the meeting was [meeting name].
4. Across several meetings (with the connector)
Search my Scribbl meetings with [customer or project name] from the last [month]. List every decision and open question, with the date of the meeting each came from, and tell me what is still unresolved.
5. Before a call (with the connector)
I have a call with [person or company] at [time]. Find my past Scribbl meetings with them and give me a short brief: what we agreed, what they asked for, and anything I promised to follow up on.
For the format itself, see the meeting minutes format with action items.
Which way should you use Claude for meeting notes?
- Paste or upload a transcript if you only need notes from one meeting now and then. It works on any Claude plan, with a transcript from any recorder, including Scribbl's free plan.
- Connect Scribbl to Claude if you want to ask questions across many meetings, prepare for calls from what was said before, or skip the copying. It needs Scribbl Pro and a Claude account that can add custom connectors.
Claude meeting notes: privacy and consent
Tell everyone in the meeting that you're recording, whichever tool you use. Recording laws vary by region, and some places require everyone's consent; see do you have to tell people you're recording.
Before you connect any tool to Claude, know what Anthropic says about custom connectors: they connect Claude to services Anthropic hasn't verified, and once connected, Claude can access those services and take action in them. Only add connectors you trust, in a Claude account you control, and remove one you no longer use under Customize, then Connectors. On Scribbl, recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.
Claude meeting notes FAQ
Can Claude take meeting notes?
Not by itself. Claude can't join, record or transcribe a call: Anthropic's help center describes no meeting recorder, and its list of supported uploads has documents and images but no audio or video files. What Claude can do, on any plan, is turn a transcript or notes you give it into minutes, action items or a follow-up email. To have Claude search every meeting, record them with a note taker such as Scribbl, which works in Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with no bot, and connect it to Claude on Scribbl Pro.
Can Claude join a Zoom, Teams or Google Meet call?
No. Nothing in Anthropic's help center describes Claude joining or listening to a call. To get notes from a call into Claude, use a note taker that records it, then paste the transcript or connect the note taker to Claude. Scribbl records Google Meet through a Chrome extension and Zoom and Teams through Scribbl Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows, with nothing joining the call.
Can Claude transcribe a meeting recording?
Not from an audio or video file. Anthropic lists the file types Claude accepts as documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, RTF and others) and images, with no audio or video formats. Give Claude a transcript instead, as pasted text or an uploaded document.
How do I get my meeting transcripts into Claude?
Three ways. Paste the transcript into a chat, which works on any Claude plan. Upload it as a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, up to 20 files per chat. Or connect a meeting tool to Claude as a connector, so Claude can search your meetings without any pasting: Scribbl's connector is part of Scribbl Pro.
Can Claude search all my meeting transcripts?
Yes, with a connector. Connect Scribbl to Claude once, on Scribbl Pro, and Claude can search the transcripts and notes of the meetings you've recorded and the ones shared with you, or only the meetings in one Smart Collection. You add it in Claude under Customize, then Connectors, as a custom connector. The steps are above.
What do I need to connect Scribbl to Claude?
Scribbl Pro, which is $13 per user per month billed annually or $20 monthly, and a Claude account that can add custom connectors. Anthropic's help center lists which Claude plans can add them and how many. On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization first, then each person connects their own account.
Can Claude write meeting minutes?
Yes, from a transcript or notes. Ask for fixed headings (attendees, decisions, action items with an owner and a due date) and tell Claude to write "not recorded" where the notes don't say something, so it doesn't guess. Prompt 2 above does this. Check names, numbers and decisions before you send the minutes.
What's the best AI note taker to use with Claude?
Scribbl. It records Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with no bot, keeps the video and a transcript with speaker names, and on Scribbl Pro it connects to Claude directly, so Claude can search every meeting you've recorded or just the meetings in one Smart Collection, and Automations do the follow-up for the meetings in your Smart Collections. On the free plan, which includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams with 10 meetings a month, you can copy a meeting's transcript into Claude on any Claude plan.
Is it safe to connect a meeting tool to Claude?
Treat it like giving any app access to your meetings. Anthropic says custom connectors connect Claude to services it hasn't verified, and once connected, Claude can access those services and take action in them. Only connect tools you trust, in a Claude account you control, and remove the connector if you stop using it. On Scribbl, recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.
How we checked: every Claude detail on this page comes from Anthropic's help center, read on October 6, 2026: Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP, Upload files to Claude and Connect to Microsoft 365. Anthropic changes Claude often, so check the linked page if a detail matters to you. Scribbl's plans and prices are on the pricing page, and the connector is described on the Scribbl connector page.
