How do I set up Scribbl for Microsoft Teams?
Download Scribbl Desktop for Mac or Windows, sign up for Scribbl, and join your Microsoft Teams meeting the way you always do. Scribbl Desktop records from your own computer, so no bot waits in the lobby and you do not need to be the organizer. When the meeting ends, the AI notes, action items, transcript and video are in your Scribbl account. Microsoft Teams is in the free plan. More on the Microsoft Teams AI note taker page.

What do I need?
- A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer), or a PC with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11
- A Scribbl account. Sign up free.
- Scribbl Desktop, for Mac or Windows
There is no build for Intel Macs, so Scribbl Desktop will not run on one. You do not need Teams Premium or a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and you do not need to be the organizer. Scribbl Desktop is included in every Scribbl plan, including free.
How do I install Scribbl Desktop?
- Sign up for Scribbl, if you have not yet.
- Download Scribbl Desktop for Mac or Windows and open it.
- Give it screen and audio recording permission when your operating system asks. You grant this once, on first run. On a Mac, macOS prompts you for it, and you may need to restart the app afterwards.
- Join your Teams meeting the way you always do.
The app updates itself, so you install it once.
Windows warned me about the download. What do I do?
That is expected right now. The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a blue warning. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Scribbl is working through signing so the warning goes away.
How does recording start?
On its own. Scribbl Desktop watches for a supported meeting window and starts recording when you open a Teams meeting. There is no button to remember. If you join late, you still get everything from the moment you arrived.
Do I need to be the organizer?
No. Teams' own Record button is only for people in the organizer's organization, and only when the admin allows recording. Guests and people from other companies cannot use it. Scribbl Desktop records from your own computer, so it works in any Teams meeting you join, including ones other companies host.
Will Scribbl be held in the Teams lobby?
No, because Scribbl does not send a bot. Since June 2026, Teams detects third-party bots and keeps them in the lobby until the organizer admits them. Scribbl Desktop records on your own computer, so there is nothing for Teams to hold in the lobby and nothing for the organizer to admit.
Do other people in the meeting see that Scribbl is recording?
No. Teams only shows its recording dot and notice when Teams itself records. So tell everyone at the start of the meeting that you are recording, and check the consent rules where you and they are. Recording laws vary by region, so make sure you have the consent you need from the people in your meetings.
What do I get after the meeting?
AI notes, action items, a transcript with speaker names and the video, in the same Scribbl account and the same list as your Google Meet and Zoom calls, with the same search across them. Microsoft Teams is in the free plan, which includes 10 meetings a month. More in what Scribbl gives you after a meeting.
Does Scribbl Desktop record Google Meet?
No. Google Meet uses the Scribbl Chrome extension, so see Google Meet setup. The same Scribbl Desktop app records Zoom, so there is nothing more to install for Zoom.
The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Get Scribbl Desktop
