How to send meeting notes to Slack or Teams automatically with Scribbl

The Slack or Teams post is usually one of several jobs after a meeting. Automations can also draft the follow-up email after a meeting (you copy it or open it in Gmail; it never sends by itself), log a note in HubSpot or Pipedrive, save the notes to Google Drive, Notion or Confluence, open an Asana, Monday, Linear or Jira ticket, or add a row to a Google Sheet. How to send meeting notes to Slack manually

If you only need to share one meeting, doing it by hand takes a minute.

Copy and paste the notes into a channel

1. Open your notes. In Scribbl, open the meeting: the summary and action items are on the Notes tab.
2. Copy the summary, the decisions and the action items. Leave the transcript out.
3. In Slack, open the channel and paste. Add the meeting name and date as the first line.

Email the notes to a Slack channel

On paid Slack plans, each channel can have an email address. Slack's steps on desktop:

1. Open the channel and click the channel name in the header.
2. Click the Automations tab.
3. Choose Send emails to this channel, then click Get Email Address.
4. Copy the address. Anything you email to it shows up in the channel.

Slack says owners and admins can control who may create these addresses, and HIPAA-compliant Enterprise organizations can't send emails to Slack.

Use Slack's AI huddle notes (Slack huddles only)

If the meeting happens in a Slack huddle, Slack can take the notes. On paid plans, AI huddle notes put a list of who was there, the topics, action items and a transcript into a canvas in the huddle thread, and channel members can turn them on for every huddle in a channel. They can't be used in huddles with external people or guests. Most teams hold their real meetings on Google Meet, Zoom or Teams, and huddle notes don't cover those.

How to send meeting notes to a Microsoft Teams channel manually

Post the notes in the channel

1. Copy the summary, decisions and action items from your notes.
2. In Teams, open the channel and start a new post.
3. Paste the notes, add the meeting name and date, and @mention each owner.
4. Link to the full notes or recording instead of pasting the transcript.

Email the notes to a Teams channel

In Teams, go to the channel name, select More options, then Get email address. Microsoft says your IT admin has to turn this on, it isn't available on Office 365 Government plans, and an email fails if it has more than 20 attachments, more than 50 inline images or an attachment over 10 MB. You need the desktop or web app to get the address.

What Teams does with its own recap

After a Teams meeting, the Recap tab in the meeting chat holds the recording, transcript, shared files and notes. AI notes in the recap (intelligent recap) need a Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and Microsoft says the meeting has to be at least 5 minutes long and transcribed in a supported language.
