Fathom vs Gong: pick Fathom if you want published prices, a free plan and call notes you can start today, and pick Gong if you run a sales team buying a full revenue platform on a custom quote. Fathom's Business plan, with CRM field sync and coaching metrics, is $25 per user per month billed annually, while Gong prices per user plus a platform fee and lists no free plan.

Scribbl is the pick over both. Fathom and Gong both send a bot into the call to record video. With Scribbl, nothing joins the call, and every sales call gets the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, on Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with the follow-up email drafted and the CRM note logged. Every price and fact below was checked on Fathom's and Gong's official pages on October 19, 2026.

Start free: no bot for a prospect to notice, no quote to wait for, and the free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month.

Gong. Gong's pricing page lists no prices and no free plan. It says licenses are priced per user, there is a platform fee based on the number of users supported, and you can integrate your existing tech stack for free. To get a price, you fill in a form starting with your team size for a customized proposal.

Free plans

  • Fathom Free: unlimited recordings, storage and transcription, instant AI call summaries, advanced summaries on your first 5 calls a month, clips and search. AI action items and AI follow-up emails aren't included, and Ask Fathom is limited.
  • Gong: no free plan is listed on its pricing page.
  • Scribbl free plan: the free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Each one gets the video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items, and nothing joins the call.

The bot on your sales calls

On sales calls, the bot is the part prospects see.

Fathom. Fathom's help center lists capture modes: "Audio & Video (Bot)", where a bot joins the meeting to record audio and video, and two bot-free modes that capture audio only or a transcript only. The bot-free modes need Fathom 3.0 on a Mac with macOS 14.2 or newer, and on Windows bot-free capture is limited to an early test on Microsoft Teams. Removing the in-meeting banner and a custom bot name start on Premium.

Gong. Gong's help center says Gong joins the meeting as a virtual participant and records the call, and that in Zoom the Gong recorder appears in the attendee list like any other participant. The bot is available on all of Gong's web conferencing integrations, including Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Native recording, with no recorder in the meeting, is only available with Zoom. If a meeting has a waiting room, the host must admit the bot before recording starts.

Scribbl. Nothing joins the call, and you still get the video. On Google Meet it's a Chrome extension, and on Zoom and Teams it's Scribbl Desktop for Mac with Apple silicon and Windows. The prospect sees only the people they invited. Whatever tool you use, tell everyone you're recording at the start of the call.

Do it with Scribbl

No bot on the call, on Mac and on Windows, no quote, and AI action items on every plan. Three steps:

  1. 1

    Add Scribbl

Add the Chrome extension for Google Meet, or install Scribbl Desktop on your Mac (Apple silicon) or Windows computer for Zoom and Teams. Turn off Fathom's automatic recording, or ask your Gong admin to stop recording your calls, so only one tool takes notes.

  2. 2

    Join the call as usual

Nothing joins the call, and you don't need to be the host. Tell everyone you're recording at the start.

  3. 3

Open the notes when the call ends

The video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items are on one page, and Automations draft the follow-up email and log the note in HubSpot or Pipedrive.

CRM and integrations

Fathom. Fathom's pricing page lists Claude and ChatGPT integrations, Zapier and Make, Slack, and its public API and MCP on every plan. CRM sync, which pushes meeting summaries and notes into your CRM, is on every plan but limited to 3 users per domain on Free, Premium and Team. CRM field sync, which writes into specific CRM fields, starts on Business.

Gong. Gong's pricing page says you can integrate your existing tech stack for free. Its products include Gong Engage, Gong Forecast and Gong Enable, sold to revenue teams.

Scribbl. Scribbl's integrations do the follow-up after each sales call. Smart Collections sort your calls by themselves into the groups you describe. When a call lands in a collection, Automations draft the follow-up email (you copy it or open it in Gmail; it never sends by itself), log a note in HubSpot or Pipedrive, post to Slack or Microsoft Teams, open an Asana, Monday, Linear or Jira ticket, or add a row to a Google Sheet. They ask before they change anything by default. On Pro you can also connect Scribbl to ChatGPT or Claude and ask about past calls.

Privacy: AI training and your data

  • Fathom. Fathom's privacy policy, last updated August 16, 2026, says it may use de-identified data from meeting content to improve its service, that you can opt out in your account settings, and that it doesn't let third parties such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google train on your data.
  • Gong. Gong's trust center says your data is never used to train generative AI models and is never shared with or exposed to the public domain.
  • Scribbl. Recordings are private by default, and Scribbl doesn't use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.

Fathom or Gong: which should you choose?

Between the two: Fathom is a note taker with published prices and a free plan, and its sales features (CRM field sync, deal view, coaching metrics) are on Business. Gong is a revenue platform sold by quote, with a platform fee and no free plan. Both send a bot into the call to record video.

Scribbl is the pick for most teams comparing these two:

  • Nothing joins the call on Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, on Mac and on Windows.
  • The video, a transcript with speaker names, AI notes and action items for every call, on every plan.
  • Prices you can see. The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly.
  • The follow-up gets done. Automations draft the email and log the CRM note in HubSpot or Pipedrive.

The free plan includes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with 10 meetings a month. Start free, and tell everyone you're recording at the start of the call.
